simun blog

I thought that simun was a great experience because you had to prepare to have a chance to do well in your group. I did this very well but I didn’t expect some of the upperclassman to be as hard on me as they were. I was drilled with questions I couldn’t answer but I did that to a few people me. Next year I think that we should be require to go through more scenarios so all countries can be involved.
I thought that for my first year of simun compared to the rest of the freshman in my group I was a little UN prepared but I still grinded my way through the three days. I would make inquiries and motions as much as I could and because my country was Venezuela and the Falkland Islands conflict required me to be very involved. To do things differently I would have made more allies so my motions could have passed.
I prepared by researching every topic the way I should, more than two sources and understanding the topics very well. Especially the ones that involved my country. I could have prepared better by doing my countries history better because I was unaware of the way they would handle these situations not the way I would handle these situations. If I could do it again this would be the main area I need to improve in. To prepare differently for next year I will research from my countries perspective not mine. I need to spend more time on each topic so I can get a good grade on simun because it counts for a lot.
